The past year witnessed our programs grow again and we used this opportunity to consolidate the structure of the JDP. This included:

  • Structuring our programs so players could move into various levels appropriate to their ability;

  • Maintained a Junior Superleague competition, run twice a year;

  • Recruiting, educating and mentoring new coaching personnel;

  • Attracting over 200 players accross all the programs;

  • Competing in national youth and junior competitions for the first time since 2015 and sending the highest number of Tasmanian teams ever;

  • Sending 3 athletes to national development and talent identification camps during the year, in a push to provide even more exciting opportunities for our young promising athletes.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU IN 23’

In 2023, whether you are an athlete or a coach, we continue to offer all the great opportunities that were available in 2022:

  • A structured tiered training program suited to ability and aspiration;
  • Pathways into our local division 1 and 2 senior competitions;
  • Competition against the other states at Youth and Junior national competitions;
  • Superleague competition(s)
  • Coaching and Refereeing education opportunities

In addition, two exciting new opportunities are presenting this year:

  • A new tier is starting in the program. Called 'Road to Brisbane', this is open to athletes in age groups from U14 to U20 (for 2023, this means athletes born between 1/1/2004 and 31/12/2010), and is targetting athletes wishing to represent Australia at the Brisbane Olympics in 2032. In the short term, it aims at preparing the athletes to achieve the best outcomes possible at the national competitions they will be participating in, and be selected in under-age national camps and international tours.
  • A 2 days '2032 Men's Volleyroos Talent ID Camp', organised by Volleyball Tasmania, with the participartion of Dave Preston, the national men's team (Volleyroos) head coach, and Craig Marshall, Volleyball Asutralia's High Performance director.
