Road to Brisbane

'Road to Brisbane' is an advanced training program open to athletes in age groups from U14 to U20 (for 2023, this means athletes born between 1/1/2004 and 31/12/2010).

This training program is targeting athletes wishing to ultimately try to represent Australia at the Brisbane Olympics in 2032. In the short term, it aims at preparing the athletes to achieve the best outcomes possible at the national competitions they will be participating in, and be selected in under-age national camps and international tours.

In 2023, in addition to the national championships organised by Volleyball Australia (AYVC, AJVC), athletes enrolled in the program should be also targetting international tours organised by VA's national development program.  These VA tours include a variety of destinations and competitions:

- A Thailand tour, participating in Thailand's U21 National Championship organised in April;

- For those born in 2008 and after, the AVC (Asian Volleyball Confederation) is organising the first ever U16 Asian Championship, to be played in July 2023 and for which Australia is invited (Uzbekistan for the men, and China for the women);

- Than later in the year, a potential tour in the US and one in New Zealand.

These also come in addition to the NDP's camps, organised throughout the year. More information can be provided when available. Contact jdp@volleyballtasmania.com.au to be kept in the loop.
