2021, WHAT DID WE DO, A QUICK REVIEW

The past year witnessed our programs grow beyond our expectations and it quickly became obvious that we were attracting a large influx of players from many different age groups, who had a range of abilities and expectations. It also became evident that it would be highly unlikely that we would be able to travel anywhere due to COVID and that we would need to provide alternatives for our growing numbers. Some of the innovations that we brought to you in 2021 include:

- Structuring our programs so players could move into various levels appropriate to their ability
- Introducing a Junior Superleague competition
- Providing a full residential High-Performance Camp
- Recruiting and mentoring new coaching personnel
- Attracting over 240 players into our Junior Program
- Introducing a year 5/6 dedicated program

Because of the many challenges we had, and our numbers, we found ourselves in a situation where we had to react quickly and put in place programs that we hadn’t necessarily planned for. Most of the programs and structures worked well, but upon our extensive internal review we decided to not only change some things up for '22, but also to put forward a comprehensive strategic plan to Volleyball Tasmania (VT) covering the next 3 years. The board has endorsed this proposal and the following outlines what we will be providing for our junior cohort in 2022.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU IN 22’

Depending on the circumstances, we anticipate taking part in many (if not all) National Junior Championships that Volleyball Australia will offer and possibly some additional competitions such as the School Sport Australia u15 Championships and School’s Cup. We will also offer:

- A structured training program suited to ability and aspiration

- Pathways into our local division 1 and 2 senior competitions

- ‘Superleague’ competition(s) - cost not included
- A possible residential ‘High Performance Camp’ for boys and girls - cost not included
- Coaching opportunities
- Refereeing opportunities
- A trial strength and conditioning program

PROGRAM STRUCTURE FOR YOU IN 22’

We have placed you in one of the following training programs for 2022. The ‘SCHEDULED’ program you have been assigned is the program that your yearly fee covers you for. Coaching Staff - Each program will be headed up by an experienced coach and they will be assisted by a number of coaches in training, who we are actively mentoring to take more senior roles in the coming years. Players will be introduced to their coaches on the first night of the training programs.

Note - The coaches believe that for them to have an idea of the players coming through the academy
program, they have agreed to coach the academy program on a rotational basis. There are enormous
benefits for both players and coaches and we will be actively working to bring the academy players into our higher level programs.
