The Australian Youth Volleyball Championship comprises of Under 14 to Under 18 age groups and will be held;

  • 16-22 September 2023 (this includes the likely travel days)
  • Bendigo, VIC

Volleyball Tasmania is seeking an application from experienced (currently training teams) and qualified (minimum VA Level 2 Candidate) coaches to lead and assist Tasmania representative teams in the U15, U16, U17 and U18 age groups, boys and girls (as we may not be able to nominate teams in each category, it is recommended that interested coaches pick mutliple age groups even if they would be selected only to one team).

Team coaches will be required in the July to September period to:

  1. Contribute to identification of invitees to trial for selection by attending Volleyball Tasmania's competitions;
  2. Conduct Trials as required;
  3. Conduct Trainings as scheduled;
  4. Coach and supervise the team at the Championships

There will be a total of 7 volleyball training sessions (once per week), starting the week of the 24th of July 2023. The exact dates of the training sessions will

VTAS is also looking to appoint two experienced and qualified coaches (minimum VA Level 2, experience with national tours) as mentor coaches to assist team coaches on tour. Mentor coaches will be required to:

  1. Contribute to identification of invitees to trial for selection by attending Volleyball Tasmania's competitions;
  2. Attend Trials as required for their nominated age groups / gender;
  3. Attend Trainings as scheduled for their nominated age groups / gender;
  4. Mentor the coaches at the Championships.

Volleyball Tasmania is also looking for support staff (including a head of delegation) to help with the logistic aspect of the competition. Support Staff will be required in the lead up and during the competition to:

  1. Liaise with the coaching staff to introduce themselves to the travelling party;
  2. While the travel arrangement will be made directly by Volleyball Tasmania, the travelling itself will be under the responsibility of the support staff. This means:
    1. Ensuring every traveller is accounted for at all time;
    2. Any change in the bookings by the provider (accomodation, flight, transport or food) will be under the direct oversight of the support staff
  3. Provide assistance to coaches and athletes during the competition (e.g. interactions with the organising committee, support for injured athletes. Note that athletes and coaches are expected to behave like responsible adults, in charge of their own laundry, personal habits, etc. The support staff responsibility only involves group travel matter)

Being a support staff during the competition is an excellent experience for those wanting to become state coaches in the future and gain experience in national competitions.

The coaching application period will close Monday 14th June 2023. Trials for the players are tentatively booked for the week starting the 26th of June.

Final coach and support staff nominations will be conducted by the Volleyball Tasmania State Team Management Panel and recommended to the Volleyball Tasmania Board for approval.
