The Tasmanian Volleyball Association came into being on a fresh Spring evening, some decades ago, at about 8pm AEST. [Artistic license taken here....]

Becoming incorporated under Tasmanian law (Associations Incorporation Act 1964) on 22 November 1989, its official title was changed to Tasmanian Volleyball Association Inc (known as TVA).

The association's official title changed again, becoming known as Volleyball Tasmania Inc. (or VTI) on 15 August 1996, after a national push on naming conventions for all state affiliates.

On 11 November 2005, Volleyball Tasmania Inc. was legally amalgamated with the Southern Tasmanian Volleyball Association Inc. The new entity is still titled Volleyball Tasmania Inc.

The association has been, and still is, run by volunteer administrators who have selflessly devoted  their own time and resources toward the development of volleyball in Tasmania.
