Australian Volleyball Schools Cup (AVSC)

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FORMS (Not yet available online, please ask Laura Coombe at training.)

The AVSC held in Melbourne each December is the biggest volleyball tournament in Australasia, with over 5000 participants and officials representing over 420 teams. International teams regularly compete along with teams from throughout Australia.

Schools ultimately compete for medals and the overall ‘best school award' is allocated to the school that accumulates the most points throughout the tournament.

Out of the 400+ teams that participate, Elizabeth College has finished in the top 10 on many occasions. This year marks the 18th year in a row that Elizabeth College has been represented at this prestigious event.

Every athlete who is part of our program is eligible to travel to Melbourne at the end of the year, and we encourage all of our athletes to make every effort to raise the money to go.

There are no selection trials for Athletes to take part in this tour. All participating athletes will be placed in teams / divisions that are most suited to their ongoing development.

Parents are encouraged to travel to support their child where possible with some official team management positions being available (preference given to parents who have previously volunteered their time).

Here are some suggestions to assist with getting the money for your trip. In the past some students have not only paid fully for their tour through fundraising but also had spending money as well.

Sponsorship Letter - Many councils, politicians, and businesses will support athletes selected to
represent their state. All members of the program are chosen to represent Tasmania at the AVSC.

Chocolates - An oldie but a goodie. Approximately $20 of profit for each box you sell.

Refereeing - Volleyball Tasmania is always looking for referees for competitions and tournaments. The pay is approx. $15 an hour. Let your coach know if you are keen.

Team BBQ - Run a BBQ fundraiser either at home or at a business that supports community organisations.

Movie Night - Host a themed movie night and ask those in attendance for donations.

Your fundraising is only limited by your imagination. Please remember when you are fundraising that you are representing yourself, your family and the
volleyball program and should always conduct
yourself in a courteous, lawful and professional manner.
