2008 Tasmanian Masters Volleyball Championships
The fourth annual Tassie Masters event: Saturday 11th October 2008. Venue: Kingborough Sports Centre.
Entries this year as follows: 3 x over 30 men's, 3 x over 40 men's and 4 x over 30 mixed. Some ex-pat Tasmanians made the trip this year, which proved both interesting and challenging, but a great chance to catch up! Great to see the mixed team from Devonport this year & Launceston sending their best men down to Hobart.
Matches started at 9am and the referees ran a tight ship all day, allowing plenty of warm-up time for those ageing bodies! Finals ended up running a little ahead of schedule, but provided a bit of extra drinking time at Beer o'clock.

Results went basically according to previous results and projections, except maybe for the highly fancied Raptors mixed team which ended up fighting out 3rd spot against Devonport after losing all three of its pool matches. In the men's, defending champions Boss went through undefeated, as did the ominous Dream Team.

Men's 40+ Division Results:
Assassins def Champs 2-0 (21-7, 21-16) ... solid start for the new-look Assassins.
Boss def Assassins 2-1 (16-21, 21-15, 16-14) ... what a great, close game - but it's only the pool match.
Boss def Champs 2-0 (21-10, 21-5) ... flexing some muscle, the ol' brigade.
1st v 2nd: Boss def Assassins 2-1 (25-17, 9-25, 15-10) ... another pearler - still, an extra 150 years combined experience pays off again!
Men's 30+ Division Results:
Dream Team def Hobart 2-1 (15-21, 21-16, 15-8) ... a dominant display after a shaky start.
Dream Team def Launceston 2-0 (21-13, 21-13) ... DT continuing on their merry way.
Launceston def Hobart 2-1 (21-14, 9-21, 15-12) ... some good 'Old Man' volleyball in this match.
1st v 2nd: Dream Team def Launceston 2-0 (25-12, 25-15) ... I think Launnie & Hobart wore each other out trying to make the final!
