The Southern Tasmanian Volleyball Association was formed in 1964. The Association lapsed sometime between then and 1967 when it was re-started by Rod Scott. Since then the STVA conducted competitions for people of all ages and abilities, trying (with varying degrees of success) to "grow" the sport of volleyball in Southern Tasmania. The Association legally merged with Volleyball Tasmania in December 2005.

The panel on the left is an index to all of the information contained in this history, from the minutes of the formation meetings in 1964, through all of the seasons for which records exist.

Editor’s Note

This history has been assembled from scoresheets, newspaper articles, minutes from meetings, STVA roster booklets and anything else I could get my hands on. Where possible I have reconstructed the final ladders for each season so any mistakes are mine. There are almost certainly mistakes in the team lists - made either by my typing errors or the person filling in the scoresheet. Please bring any mistakes to my attention so that they can be corrected.
If you have any information that can fill in any of the many gaps in this history please email me so that the most complete history possible can be assembled.
I hope that you find it interesting,
Peter Hutchinson.
